Are the New York Knicks trying to smack their fans in the face or turn a new leaf? The fans are starting to feel hopeful about the team. They hired “anyone but Rambis” I mean Jeff Hornacek, KP is here, Carmelo Anthony is staying and with free agency coming up they have money to spend. So why would they want to remind everyone of their past mistakes?
According to Kyle Newport, bleacherreport.com :
The franchise does not (currently) own a pick in the 2016 draft. But that’s not stopping the team and league from trying to sell official draft hats.
New York agreed to let the Denver Nuggets swap first-round picks in 2016 as part of the Carmelo Anthony trade in 2011. Then the Knicks sent the pick to Toronto as part of the Andrea Bargnani deal in 2013. As for the second-round pick, the team dealt that away in 2012 as part of a package to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Raymond Felton.
So now that the Knicks don’t have a draft pick this year, why are they trying to sell us “Draft hats”? Why would you want to remind us of the 2013 Andrea Bargnani deal and why are they Orange? Everyone knows things started to get really bad once, the Knicks started wear those horrible All Orange Jerseys. When they returned the floor back to that NYK blue that we all know and love, I thought they were finally starting to “Get It”.
Other then Spike Lee, most New Yorkers don’t wear Knicks apparel where orange is the dominant color. If you are going to sell us a ” Draft Hat” you could at least, make it look better by changing the orange to blue. ( you can leave to logo as is.)
I get it, it’s business but if you need an alternative Color-Way to sell, my suggestion would be to go with the Color-Way that Phil is wearing. It gives the fans something new and fresh without bringing up bad memories.
